Anzac day!!
Started off pretty early, we biked around to Christey's at about 9am. We were all heading to her cultural festival where we were running the NZ tent. It was probably the hottest day we've had in ages and we had to entertain children and their parents all day. We had NZ music playing loud all day and had posters and calendars and other bits and pieces from NZ for everyone to look at. Christey made heaps of Maori sticks, so we spent a lot of time teaching the children and adults that (they seemed to love it). The festival finished up around 3pm, and from there we all headed back to Christeys to drop off our gear. Around 6 we headed into the local bar Tin's Hall because they were celebrating Anzac day with a BBQ of NZ lamb and Aussie beef, and also music from both all night. The Lamb was amazing, it's been so long!!! (Danielle loved it!) We ended up drinking NZ wine all night and had a really good time, singing old classics and dancing around. The night ended on a sour note though, I lost my jacket on the train on the way home (I'm pretty sure someone walked off with it) and in the pockets off my jacket were my bloody new PSP, cellphone and my house keys. Hopefully all will be replaced with my travel insurance, but it is just annoying for the time being. Apart from the drama at the end an all round great day of NZ food, music, drinks and people.

Kyoto and Cherry Blossoms

It's spring here now and it's the favorite time of the year for Japanese people, the cherry blossoms come out!! It's an excuse for them to eat lot's of food and drink under the trees. We wondered what all the fuss was about so we headed to Kyoto to check it out. We hired bikes and cycled through the city, stopping at temples and parks along the way, the sun was out all day and I even managed to get burnt. There were people everywhere, everyone had turned up to view the cherry blossoms, and people were also having picnic's under the trees. We were lucky enough to see some Geisha as well which was pretty good, we stopped and took some photo's of them. We headed back to Osaka around 6pm, it's gr
eat that Kyoto is so close to us!!

Our Holiday
Well, you probably already know all about the trip to Singapore and Krabi if you have been reading Danielle's blog. We had a fantastic time over there, Singapore was really good, I wouldn't mind living there for a while, the city is really nice and the people are great! Thailand was great also, good to get some nice weather for a change. We basically just ate, swam and mucked about for five days, it was really relaxing. 9 days went pretty fast, I wish we had a wee bit longer away.
